New Resource: Education and COVID-19
School doors are locked throughout Illinois, and the buildings will stay shuttered at least through April 30. What will education look like through Chicago Public Schools during this tumultuous time? New information arrives daily, but one premise guides all planning: The physical and emotional well-being of students takes precedence over everything else.
- Students cannot be penalized for their performance on any work assigned during this period of remote learning.
- The goals of instruction are to keep students from losing skills they recently mastered, ensure continuity of learning, and provide structure. Students will not be expected to master new skills, although some new skills may be introduced.
