Legal Council for Health Justice Hosts Gala to Celebrate 30th Anniversary

WHAT: Legal Council will host a gala event to commemorate the agency’s 30th anniversary of providing free legal services to Illinoisans and their families living with serious medical conditions. Rep. Greg Harris (D-Chicago), University of Chicago Medicine’s Dr. Nicole Hamp and Howard Brown Health will receive awards for achievements in promoting access to health care and services for Illinoisans with disabilities and chronic illnesses. Kimball R. Anderson and Karen Gatsis Anderson, philanthropists and local leaders in law, will co-chair the gala. Larry Yellen, Fox 32 News Anchor, and Fawzia Mirza, actor, activist and writer of the upcoming CBS show The Red Line, will emcee the event. Over 400 leaders in law, finance, business and public service will be in attendance.

100% of the proceeds from the 30th Anniversary Gala will benefit Legal Council’s programs serving people living with HIV, families of children with serious illnesses, seniors and individuals with severe mental illnesses who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. This year alone, over 2,200 individuals in the Chicago area will receive free, expert legal assistance from Legal Council, while Legal Council’s educational outreach and policy advocacy will touch the lives of millions of people across the region.
