Statement: Legal Council Staff Hold Innovations Families in our Hearts

The Legal Council team is heartbroken over the deaths of two students from the high school who are our neighbors in our downtown office. The laughter and friendship we have all seen as students come in and out for their day are infectiously joyful. We hope that all who are saddened over this loss recommit to the work to make all of Chicago a place where children thrive and not avert their gaze when violence happens farther from their doorsteps.

Legal Council will continue our work to ensure that Chicago youth get access to the educational opportunities required by law, quality care that addresses all their health needs, and income stability that addresses long-standing, systemic inequity in our society. We work in the hope that the struggle toward equity is, in equal measure, one toward peace.
