Steven Proutsos (he/him/his) joined Legal Council as an Americorps fellow with the HIV/AIDS program in August 2023. Steven is originally from Plainfield, IL and received his B.S in Neurobiology from Dominican University. Prior to joining the organization, Steven worked as a tutor and researcher at his university. He was a part of the NSF funded Improving Undergraduate STEM Education: Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSI Program), which aimed to enhance undergraduate STEM education and build capacity at the university. Steven has spent time as a medical scribe in a local emergency department, which influenced him to seek out an opportunity to become more knowledgeable about the social determinants of health. With his interest in pursuing a career as a primary care physician, he is excited to join the Legal Council to make a positive impact in the community and to gain a deeper understanding of the policies behind health benefits. In his free time, Steven enjoys playing golf and basketball with his friends.
