Sarah Hess, Senior Staff Attorney

Sarah is a Senior Staff Attorney providing services to children and youth with disabilities and chronic health conditions and their families. Since 2014, she has designed, implemented, and managed three Medical-Legal Partnerships focused on young people, working with hospital Social Workers, Community Health Workers, and school-based health centers. Sarah provides legal services to mitigate the causes and consequences of trauma, toxic stress, and the social influencers of health in the areas of special education, public benefits, and adult guardianship. Sarah came to Legal Council from Chicago Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights, where she was a Skadden Fellow. She is a graduate of UIC Law School, where she received the Women's Bar Foundation Scholarship and the Public Interest Recognition Award, and she is the 2017 recipient of the Anderson Public Interest Law Fellowship. She earned her B.A. from DePaul University with a focus in African-Black Diaspora Studies.
