Raine (they/elle) joined LCHJ as a Legal Advocate with the HIV/AIDS program in September 2023. Raised in Virginia, they received a B.A. in political science from Virginia Tech and an M.A. in social work from the University of Chicago. Raine completed their graduate fieldwork at AIDS Foundation of Chicago and Care2Prevent in their housing navigation and behavioral health programs, respectively. At Legal Council, Raine is most excited to build relationships with clients and staff at medical partner sites to expand knowledge of and access to legal aid resources. They are passionate about the cross-issue solidarity inherent in the fight for universal healthcare, LGBTQ+ and reproductive justice, and the end of prisons, jails, and detention centers. Outside of work, Raine enjoys ambient music, books, fiber arts, and making use of good public transportation infrastructure.
