Julie Justicz (she/her) joined Legal Council as Executive Director in October 2023. Prior to joining LCHJ, Julie was Chief External Relations Officer and Chief Strategy Officer with Chicago Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights for seven years. She brings extensive experience as a consultant, having assisted a wide range of nonprofit organizations in the greater Chicagoland area. From 2021-2022, she served as an External Advisor to the MacArthur Foundation in awarding $80 million in grants centered on advancing racial and ethnic justice. Julie was Director of Program Development at Health & Disability Advocates from 1999-2012, Director of the Children’s SSI Project at the American Bar Association from 1997-1998, Executive Director of AIDS Legal Council of Chicago from 1995-1997, and a staff attorney at the Legal Assistance Foundation of Metropolitan Chicago from 1990-1995. She is a graduate of the University of Chicago Law School and received an MFA in creative writing from Vermont College of Fine Arts.
