Kaylan Szafranski, Policy Specialist
Kaylan is a Policy Specialist working with our Children and Families program to support our policy agenda with a focus on Early Intervention/Early Childhood, Lead Poison Prevention, and Children's Medicaid. Her previous work has centered around children's health policy as it pertains to Medicaid Managed Care and the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP). She has a Master of Social Work and Child Development from Erikson Institute and has extensive experience with young children teaching Montessori, developing early childhood curriculum, and providing developmental therapy services. During her graduate studies she helped conduct and co-authored research around mindfulness in Chicago Public Schools as a way to mitigate chronic stress' effects on executive function development.
