Bry Moore, AmeriCorps VISTA

Originally from rural small-town Oregon, Bry graduated from the University of Oregon in 2019 with a degree in Crime, Law, and Society and moved to Chicago for her AmeriCorps VISTA year. She came to Legal Council halfway through her VISTA year, and now helps secure income through federal disability programs for those who are homeless and living with severe mental illness. Before Legal Council, Bry coordinated the Juvenile Expungement Help Desk at CCJC as a VISTA with Legal Aid Chicago. Her previous experience is in organizing and advocacy for those impacted by the criminal justice system, including projects helping to prepare materials for parole hearings and assisting with Know your Rights trainings for community activists. She is excited to continue learning about different avenues of legal advocacy and how the law can be used to secure rights to safety and opportunity.
